Kris Hofmann

Kris has been working in animation since graduating from the Royal College of Art in London in 2010. Since moving to Vienna in 2018, her focus has been on the design of immersive experiences for children and young people.
Projects include an award-winning location-based augmented reality story, The Bookworms (a collaboration with the Austrian National Library), and a wide variety of AR experiences and educational tools on topics such as the female menstrual cycle, economic literacy, and light pollution. Her first VR film, Out of Nowhere, premiered at Venice Immersive and has since become one of the most widely screened European immersive films of 2025, with programme selections at GIFF, Art*VR, Viborg Animation Festival, Animateka, Hof International Film Festival, FIPADOC, and Clermont-Ferrand, among others, and an upcoming US premiere at SXSW.
Alongside her own creative practice, she works as an expert advisor with the researchers at the Austrian Institute of Technology.
