Litto / Daniela Weiss (she/her) works on system-, net- and media art.
Most of her work happens in public space. Since 2016 she has been creating partizipative augmented reality installations and performances. Sometimes she builds her own immersive devices. In 2020 she co-founded “SystemKollektiv”, an artist-run NGO that created, develops and curates the Artificial Museum. Her background in business administration helped her turn what started as an artistic idea into a worldwide platform for digital augmented reality art in public space.
Story
In 2020, Daniela Weiss, an artist, sought an alternative to the traditional art market and began showcasing her digital art in public space. Jascha Ehrenreich joined her, and they developed the concept of the Artificial Museum, a virtual platform that uses GPS geolocation to exhibit Augmented Reality art. To facilitate the growth of the Artificial Museum they founded the SystemKollektiv – Verein zur Erschaffung, Beschaffung, Erforschung, Verbreitung und Bewahrung von Kunst und Kultur’.
The idea gained traction, and various artist collectives, institutions, and museums contributed to the platform, helping it grow into a worldwide artistic research landscape.
As the platform’s popularity grew, questions about monetizing the concept of the Artificial Museum arose. The founders decided to create a company, SystemKunst KG, to rent the framework to corporations and institutions for their own use.
Founded in 2023, SystemKunst KG inherits the values of the Artificial Museum and aims to scale the business in the field of web-based augmented reality, leveraging the existing technology and expertise to drive growth and innovation.
