„It’s not a refugees’ orchestra. It’s Syrian Expat Philharmonic Orchestra“
I’m a refugee“ (B2, Z.4). (*7) Jazbehs zumindest neutrales, wenn nicht sogar positiv konnotiertes Begriffsverständnis wird an späterer Stelle noch deutlicher, als er seine Selbstpositionierung mit einem Gefühl von Stolz in Verbindung bringt: „I’m proud I’m a refugee, I’m proud.“ (B2, Z.157) (*7)
MM: […] It’s very interesting that you said at the very beginning that it’s not a refugees’ orchestra, it’s the Syrian Expat Philharmonic Orchestra. RJ: Expat that means you don’t live in your country. MM: Yeah, I know. RJ: So, some of them are refugees, like me, I’m a refugee. Some of them are not refugees, maybe students or teachers or musicians in some symphonic orchestras. […] MM: So, do you perceive yourself as a refugee or don’t you like to be termed a refugee? RJ: I’m proud I’m a refugee (MM: really?), I’m proud. MM: Because…? RJ: Because there is no difference between any human to any human, if I have a German ID or I’m a refugee or I’m Syrian or Indian, so it’s not any different. MM: Yes, that’s true, but I mean, you’re also … RJ: So, if they, I don’t know, say that we are refugees, okay, and I have my right to find a safer place to live, to save my life, to try to save the lives of my family. It is my right. MM: Yes, of course! RJ: Anyone in the world has rights to find a safer place to continue his life or her life. So if they would like to say that I’m a refugee, yes, I’m a refugee and I’m proud, no problem! MM: Okay, so, it’s not a problem for you (RJ: no), this term ‘refugee’ … RJ: No, why? MM: … because you’re also a musician and (RJ: no, no) you have, I don’t know … RJ: No, not any problem. I’m proud because people – I see what they do in their life. I don’t care if they are refugees or not refugees, if they are Germans or Syrians etcetera. I care about what they can do in their life. Good things, good aims, noble aims or bad things. So, I care about this. |
